Business Development Representative (BDR)

Are you someone who's endlessly curious about how coaches and club admins run their world, and happy to pick up the phone (cold call included) to find out?

You’ll find the programs that need us, get coaches talking about what's hard in their season, and book qualified demos.

What you'll do

You will open doors into competitive rowing, swimming and running programs across the country.

You'll be the first voice a club hears from CrewLAB, and because you've lived their world (5 AM on the water, or two hours staring at a black line), you'll get along well with your clients.

The best part of the job is the conversation: getting a coach or club admin to tell you what's actually breaking in their season, what eats their evenings, what they wish someone would fix. You can help them with that!

You own the outreach end to end (list building, a daily mix of calls and email, warm referral follow-ups), and the goal is a qualified club is booked onto the calendar for a demo.

You might spend your morning reaching out to East Coast clubs, the afternoon following up a warm intro from our sport expert and getting a coach to open up about their season, and wrap the day prepping notes in HubSpot for the demos we’re running tomorrow.

You'll report directly to the Head Coach of CrewLAB and work closely with the Customer Success and Marketing teams. You’ll have significant interaction with the product team as well.

Responsibilities

  1. Fill the calendar with qualified demos: booked, held, and worth their time.

  2. Reach out across competitive clubs and school programs through a daily mix of calls, email sequences, and warm referral follow-ups. Some of it is warm, some of it is cold, and that is fine, but you are after good conversations, not a call-count leaderboard.

  3. Get coaches and club admins talking about what actually hurts (the stress, the admin slog, the payments mess), and book the ones who fit into Discovery with the people who decide: Treasurers, Executive Directors, Membership Coordinators, and Board Chairs.

  4. Work alongside our network of sport experts and national team partners— legends of the sport with deep rolodexes — to turn names into meetings.

  5. Write up airtight briefs in HubSpot: who you talked to, what hurts, who decides.

  6. Give inputs to the marketing team on what messaging lands by segment, and help build the outbound playbook for a category we're defining.

  7. As needed, travel to regattas, meets, and events to make connections.

Who you are

  • Former/current elite athlete or coach (national team experience is a plus) who loves to compete. We can accommodate for competition trips and training schedules.

  • Genuinely curious about people: you'd rather ask a coach ten questions about their program than pitch for ten seconds, and you think the discovery is the fun part. Comfortable on the phone, cold call included: a run of 'no's doesn't faze you.

  • Well-connected in your sport and proud of it: teammates, coaches, club networks, alumni groups.

  • Social, outgoing, can make friends and build rapport with people easily.

  • Coachable — you want feedback on every call and you visibly apply it on the next one.

  • Tech savvy enough to master the product and run with customer engagement tools.

  • Hungry: a top-10% track record somewhere (sport, school, or work). Sales experience is welcome but not required.

  • Able to work East Coast hours.

Leadership stands out to us. If you've captained or led a team at any competitive level, we'd love for you to mention it in your application.
